Artist Reception for Evolution of Art: "A Walk in the Woods"

It's been a beautiful day today. Sunny, not too hot or humid. Clear skies. The perfect day!

And now, as evening settles in, it is a perfect time to come on out to Beanetics to see Lisa Lipkin's "A Walk in the Woods." Lisa is here with family and friends, and there is a lot of positive buzz about her work. Comments floating through the air include "inspired," "reminiscent of New York artists," "clever and creative."

Lisa is the first artist we have shown here at Beanetics whose medium is ink on paper. It is a fresh look: black ink, white paper, black frames. The show, Lisa's first, hangs together in a cohesive way.

As I watch Beanetics patrons interact with Lisa's art, I see them take a look, then a double take, and then move in close to study the pieces. Lisa's pieces are truly engaging, and ultimately, interactive... just like a walk in the woods!

  1. Lovely drawings. I believe Lisa's work is city-stylish with a mix of nature! My favorite piece is "Leaf." "Bush with Red Berries" reminds me of the Tree of Life because the branches are all connected and we are all connected!

  2. Lisa Lipkin's work is fantastic and whimsical. It's beautiful. It's wonderful and allows you to get lost in the art and forget about the world for a while. I would love to own ALL her pieces! It just goes to show how much one person can do. Her paintings even though most are black and white catch your eye. Art is life.

  3. I've been coming in all week to get my daily coffee and have been enjoying the art! My favorite is "Fallen Tree in the Woods." I see something from every different angle. Every time I look at it I see something new.

I also really like "Wild Grass." I like the way it looks like needlework.

I am very impressed with her work!

  4. I think that "Leaf" symbolizes how roads and industrialization are destroying the greenery of America. It's a metaphor per se.

  5. I really like Lisa's drawings. There's a depth within the apparent spareness that often requires a second or third look--but is well worth the investment.

"Wild Grass" in particular speaks to me. It appears simple, but it *feels* complex and symbolic.

All of the pieces have something to offer, though. Great show!
