My piece, "FRIDAY", is in "A Moving Commentary"

I am delighted that my acrylic painting called "Friday" is part of a new exhibit titled "A Moving Commentary: An Exhibition Exploring Shoes, Running and Motion" through October 31st. This exhibit is co-sponsored by the Girls Gotta Run Foundation (GGRF) and the Women's Caucus for Art of Greater Washington, DC (WCA-DC).

Yesterday there was an opening reception at the Takoma Park Community Center where the exhibit is hanging. Many folks came out on a beautiful afternoon to support art, artists, and a great cause.

GGRF is a volunteer organization founded in 2006 to raise money to buy athletic shoes
for Ethiopian girls who are training to become professional runners. Training to be athletes allows them to stay in school, avoid early marriage, and gain personal independence. Besides athletic shoes, GGRF provides money for training clothes, extra food ("calorie money") and coach subsidies. By providing support for these aspiring athletes, Girls Gotta Run gives Ethiopian girls the chance to improve not only their lives, but also their families and communities. "A Moving Commentary" is supporting these efforts: A portion of all sales from the exhibit goes directly to GGRF.

I hope you'll drop by and visit the exhibit and support this worthy cause by purchasing some of the artwork.

The Takoma Park Community Center is located at 7500 Maple Avenue, Takoma Park, Maryland. It's open weekdays from 9am to 10pm, Saturdays from 9 am to 6pm, and Sundays from 2-6pm.
