Evolution of Art: Sneak Peek at the April Show

The image above is called "White Limbs," and it's one of the pieces that will be featured in "Florida Everglades 2005," by photo media artist Margaret L. Paris at Beanetics Coffee Roasters from April 4th through May 1st in the "Evolution of Art" series.

According to Margaret, "The series is the product of two trips to the Florida Everglades: the first at the very end of Route 9336 in the lower National Park, the other along Route 41, known as Alligator Alley. In both areas, the profuse growth is engulfing: vines overlapping vines, vines intertwined with plants, with trees, with tree trunks, with roots. Alligators look like logs. Serpentine branches seem poised to strike. Layer after layer of tropical growth contrasts with open plans. The 'sea of grass' (sawgrass) floats like a carpet, beginning just below Lake Okeechobee and continuing east, west, and south for miles."

Come meet Margaret, see more of her artwork, hear her discuss her work and her process, and sip some fine coffee at the artist's reception on Sunday, April 13th, from 2-4pm. And check back here for more about the show in the coming weeks.
