Evolution of Art: Reception for Brian Legan's "The Tactile Atmospheric Sessions"

Outside it's a rainy, chilly night. But inside Beanetics it's warm and cozy!
Lots of great conversation as artists and friends come in to celebrate the opening of Brian Legan's abstract narrative exhibition, "The Textile Atmospheric Sessions."

Tonight I've met musicians, painters, photographers, jewelry and clothes designers, and art critics. It's been fun eaves-dropping: stories of old college buddies catching up; a story of personal rebellion by a young college student that led to a comment that he should become a union organizer because he got the school administration to change it's policy on class scheduling; how exciting it is to be able to actually touch the art; how folks from Michigan are referred to as Michiganders; when is it appropriate to lie; what it's like working as a health administrator for the Navy; and how someone's parents used to drag him through the Louvre and he was forced to see the Mona Lisa.   It doesn't get much better than this!

And still there's an added bonus for the evening... You know all those times you've ever wanted to touch the artwork, but knew you weren't allowed to do it? This is a different sort of show; Legan actually invites his viewers to take it all in, including feeling the paintings. You don't beleive me?

Check out this photo for proof:

  5. Absolutely love your work. "Carnevale" is incredible; reminds me of Picasso. "Aurora Borealis" is deep and the colors flow like the real deal. "Serene Dream" is genius; the blues and grays with the texture is mesmerizing. Would love to see all your work so I can buy my favorites! Great to see you!

  10. "Timed Progression-Patina": I really like the choice of colors. The contrast of the blue and the lime grees looks really good.

I also like the texture in "Tactile Atmospheric Session #3". And I really like the shapes and colors in "Kaleidoscopic Rio Carnevale."
