Matthew B. Parker to celebrate his exhibition, Reinventing Reality.
This is a great exhibit, depicting scenes we are all familiar with in Washington, DC and beyond: The Moongate Garden at the Smithsonian Castle; Cherry Blossoms in bloom at the Tidal Basin; The Supreme Court; The Brooklyn Bridge; NYC Uptown; and Inside the Glass Pyramid at the Louvre. And yet, it's unlike anything you've seen before. Matthew's approach is fresh and different.
As one viewer said,
"Does anyone else do this? What a smart person! Such a creative idea!"It's really all about how Matthew creates each singular image. He photographs an image several times, turning his camera to get it from different angles. Then he collages the images together, overlapping them to create one composite image! His art is both innovative and accessible.
Come by to see Matthew, and taste his cheese straws! His mother-in-law brought them for him straight from Mississippi! According to Matthew, "You can't buy these in a Kroeger... They come straight from someone's kitchen... a home-made delicacy!"
And as always, there's the usual extraordinary coffee and tasty treats!
I found Matthew's work to be powerful, multi-faceted and intriguing. He is taking photography and turning it into a unique art form!
