Reception for Lynne Harris

It's a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The sun is shining, and the snow is melting. The air is warm, relatively speaking... And it's Valentine's Day! So come on out to Beanetics with your sweetheart and celebrate the love of art, coffee, and camaraderie.

Lynne has arrived with one of her four daughters. Her husband, Andy, will be coming along in a bit with their other three daughters. Friends are already beginning to arrive and looking enthusiastically at her art.

We'll be here for the next couple of hours, so come on by, have a fabulous drink, eat a yummy treat, and chat up the artist!

  3. As a writer and a poet, I think that "Hardy's Cottage" makes me just want to move right in. Thanks to Jennifer Judelsohn for curating this really wonderful show. And congrats to the artist here, Lynne Harris, for some wonderful paintings.

  5. I love her work, and not just because she's my mother. I love her style, the way the dogs seem to be looking back at you, how you can imagine walking along an English lane towards Hardy's cottage. I've always known she was a natural artist, but I never knew she had this much talent. I am so proud of her.

  7. I was particularly impressed with the Hardy House painting. The colors of the house rooftop and the shadows were quite astounding. In addition, the bushes at the front of the cottage and the flowers were very pretty.

  8. I loved Hardy's Cottage. I felt transported to the English countryside. I do not have a good sense for how one is to use oils, but I appreciated the benefit of the textures in the garden that were made possible by the use of oils. The framing only enhanced and expanded that perception.

  11. I can't believe that you had not had any formal training until 2008. You have a lot of natural talent and it's quite amazing to see your work. I don't know what exactly motivates you, or what drives the progression of your work, but that is an intriguing mystery for the viewer.

I particularly find your dogs compelling. It's mostly in the eyes. The eyes are big and expressive and all so innocent somehow. They almost look like portraits. It would be wonderful to see your interpretation of people in your life. Perhaps that will be another progression ...

  16. My favorite is Hardy's Cottage--it just feels really welcoming, as if I had rented it for the week and am just arriving for my restful vacation. It's like I'm part of the painting, really.

  17. The cottage stands out as where I would want to be. I can smell flowers from the canvas and feel the wind coming in from the trees. I love the dog's eyes in Curious.... The look is one I have seen many times with my own dogs.
