§ Invest in yourself: Take care of yourself so you can take care of others
§ Achieve inner peace
§ Draw on this inner peace to foster global transformation and peace
Mandalas--circular images-- convey the universal concepts that life is a cycle, all things are one, and the universe within, and the universe without, are reflections if each other. The mandala process brings our attention to the center--enabling us to access our own inner light.Labyrinths are a specific type of mandala: a single meandering path to the center and back. Just like working on a mandala, when we walk in a labyrinth we may notice that our breathing slows, our mind focuses. We may gain insights, and experience a sense of peace and well-being.
In this workshop, we will bring these two powerful practices together.
We'll begin by creating safe space and setting intentions. Next, we'll walk the labyrinth as a way to explore our intentions and gain personal insights. After some time for personal reflection, a guided meditation will provide each participant the opportunity to go deeper within themselves and envision their own symbol for peace and transformation.
Then, using all the experiences up to this point, everyone will create their own mandala using simple graphic techniques that require no artistic ability or talent. The focus is on process rather than product. The result is a deeply personal piece of art that reflects each participant's own journey toward peace and transformation and can be used as a reminder for creating peace in their own life in ways both micro and macro.

Jennifer Judelsohn, LCSW (Neshama Soulworks Studio; www.soulworksstudio.com, www.journeycircles.blogspot.com), is an artist, psychotherapist, and author of Songs of Creation: Meditations on the Sacred Hebrew Alphabet. She has been drawing luminous mandalas—radiant drawings in the form of a circle—since 1993. Jennifer’s passion is to facilitate others in the spiritual practice of manifesting intentions through creativity as a sacred process. She is a nationally and internationally renowned presenter of workshops and seminars on spirituality, meditation, and art.
Sandra Wasko-Flood (Living Labyrinths for Peace, Inc.; www.labyrinthsforpeace.org) is a visionary artist, teacher, and labyrinth builder. After an inspirational experience at the Great Kiva Indian ceremonial center in Chaco Canyon , New Mexico , in 1991, she created Dance of the Labyrinth, an interactive installation of computer programmed light boxes. Through local grants, she has developed programs for schoolchildren to paint labyrinths, walk them, and make wishes for peace. A founding member of The Labyrinth Society, she directed a labyrinth demonstration on the east lawn of the U. S. Capitol. This event prompted the establishment of LLP, whose mission is to create labyrinths of art, science, technology, and nature for learning programs that lead the way from inner peace to world peace.
