A Great Way to Spend a Sunday Afternoon: Vicky Beine's "Evolution of Art" Reception

What a lovely Sunday afternoon here at Beanetics. We are celebrating a bit of Indian Summer, and oh how glorious it is. Come on by and talk to Vicky about her art. For those of you who are Redskins fans, Cole has the play-by-plays up on his computer behind the counter (so you can keep up with the game and still enjoy a bit of culture!)

As always, the coffee's fine and the chocolate and marble pound cakes are tasty! Vicky brought some luscious fresh fruit (grapes and strawberries) that fit in perfectly with Vicky's art: real life fruit and still life art paintings.

Vicky and her husband, Bill, arrived at 1pm. Several WCA artists and friends have shown up to celebrate. Lively conversation fills the air, mostly about how Vicky does reproductions of the masters. I even hear that she did a copy of "The Girl with the Pearl Earring." JoanMarie says, "It's even better than the original." How's that for high praise?

(For those who want an update on the Redskins, Cole says that they are winning right now; it's only the second quarter.)

What a wonderful thing to eavesdrop on a conversation amongst artists. It's like listening to a painting. Whether the conversation is about gardening, horses, cats, dogs, or "snow-birding" in Florida, the descriptions are colorful and detailed.

(Here's the Redskins update. Now they are behind, 10-7, and they've fumbled three times.)

Still, more friends and colleagues mosey on in. Stop by and see what all the buzz is about!

  1. Great show. Vicky Beine is a talented artist with many depictions of flowers and fruit based still lifes. Nice venue and display of the artwork.

  5. I really like the painting that is long, skinny, and vertical. The details are nice. It is differntly-sized. The background is a lush dark green that suits the plant. I like that the painting isn't framed. This piece, the details and the colors are put togethere very well, and it really stands out for me.

  6. My favorite piece is the one with the covered vase, green apples and lillies. Its really the vase that I like -- the chinese vase with the traditional scenery and classic blue and white coloring.

  8. These paintings definitely give the coffee shop a different look--very refined and elegant. The ornate frames definitely add a touch of class!

I'm always interested in how each different show has its own feel. The variety is wonderful!

  9. It's beautiful. So what canI say? I especially like the blue and white vases. The fishes on the planter is particularly nice.

I lived for four years in Japan and I have a collection of blue-and-whhite ceramics. Vicky's art reminds me of that.

  12. Blending coffee and art has been overdone and become diluted. I found the art at Beanetics to be refreshing.

Art done in classic form worked well in the environment. The images and composition really sprung out at me. The Sunflowers were my favorite. The two paintings inspired from the Far East also stuck with me.
