SPARK is up at Beanetics!

Today we hung the new show at Beanetics! You have to check this one out...

It's called SPARK: art from writing, writing from art.

Here's the concept: Artists and writers are paired up to collaborate. They give each other a piece of work in their own genre to be used as inspiration. The artist responds with a piece of art to the writing; the writer responds with a written piece to the art.

This project was begun by Amy Souza during a period when she was experiencing writer's block and needed to get her creative juices flowing. So far, there have been five rounds of SPARK, with the number of participants involved growing by leaps and bounds with each new round.

The show at Beanetics has work from five artists. For four of the artists (m.m. panas, Cheryl Liebovitz, Mary Cook, and Katie Knoll Weaver), the corresponding writings are contained in the blue notebook (labeled SPARK) sitting on top if the freezer across from the counter. The last piece, Friday, done by me, Jennifer Judelsohn, is your chance to participate in the SPARK project. Instructions for doing this are also enclosed in the blue notebook. Take a look at the piece and write a response... could be a poem, a story, a piece of prose... whatever you like. Get inspired. Get SPARKed!

We'll be having an opening reception that you won't want to miss on Saturday evening, October 17th from 7-9pm. This will be an extra special reception because there will be participating artists, readings from participating SPARK writers, a performance by a musician who has participated in SPARK and composed original works in response to the art by Cheryl Liebovitz. And, as if that wasn't enough, it is also going to be one of Beanetics KONA coffee tasting weekends.

Come for the coffee! Come for the art! Come for the performances! Come for the camaraderie and community. Whatever the reason, just come!
